Aeneas O’Hara, founder of Away from the Ordinary, is now hosting a wealth of virtual whisky tastings to guide you through the story captured in the spirit. From completely exclusive, bespoke tastings for private groups, or more relaxed gatherings among new friends, Aeneas guides you through the history, legend, and lore of Scottish distilleries – and the whiskies they produce. Informed but informal, these tastings demystify whisky. They offer you the chance to discover well-known names for yourself, or uncover rarer gems and one-offs – all from the comfort of your own home. These tailor-made, guided tastings can also include exquisite cheese or chocolate pairings.
What you need to bring to the experience?
- 5 glasses if possible, but one will be sufficient.
What to expect on the day of experience
Following a discussion on what type of tasting you would like, five carefully curated whiskies will be sent to all attendees ahead of the agreed date and time of the event. If you have opted for a cheese or chocolate pairing, those will also arrive ahead of the virtual event. All attendees will join via Zoom. The host, Aeneas, will talk through each of the chosen whiskies over the course of an hour and a half, leaving plenty of space for conversation and questions.
